About

Laura grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area until moving to St. Louis to attend Washington University. In 2018, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from WashU and moved to New York to join the Microbiology and Immunology PhD program at CUMC. She joined the Fidock lab at the beginning of 2019 where she is currently investigating novel mutations in Plasmodium falciparum chloroquine resistance transporter (PfCRT) and the effect of those mutations on drug resistance and parasite fitness. More broadly, she is interested in using biochemical and structural methods to understand mechanisms of drug resistance in P. falciparum.
